If you can take the time now to start planning your holiday eating, you will be less stressed; you will be ready with healthy meal ideas for your busy days; you will have time to plan for more healthy activity in your schedule, and you may not have to worry as much about losing extra pounds after the holiday is over. So, begin now to make some healthy meal plans for each of the holidays you want to celebrate.
When making the meal plan try new recipes and be creative. Try to make three different dishes from the recipe by altering the ingredients. Change up your spices and possibly cook the dishes different to give you a different taste. The internet is loaded with sites for recipes and ideas for good wholesome meals. Sometimes the best meal plan is one that is given to you. If you do not want to take the time to plan your meals and have ability to choose what you are going to eat you can try one of the larger more national diets. These diets have all the guesswork taken away from you as they are put together from years of dieting and staff nutritionists.
Not only will planning these meals ahead of time save time making decisions when you are busiest, but it will also save you preparation time when you need it most. You will be able to look at your plan for a meal and make your grocery list so you know you will have everything you need during preparation. You will also be able to see which parts of the meal you can make ahead of time. Some appetizers can be made weeks ahead of the day and stored in the freezer so you only need to thaw or reheat them before serving. Other items can be made the day before and in fact some dishes are better after being allowed to marinate overnight.
Over the next couple of months there are many holidays coming up and most of them include special dinners to celebrate the occasion. Healthy meal plans will help you to enjoy most of the traditional dishes while making sure that you also eat the foods that are necessary for your health. Now is a good time to begin doing the planning so that when Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, and other special holidays arrive, you will not have to spend time on the planning as one of your chores.
