I have lived in this building for over 2 years now and was always very satisfied living here. However, the building was recently bought by Avalon Bay Communities and the new owners have immediately made it clear how little they care about their residents. They have replaced our shuttle with a glorified mini-van and many people have taken to driving (and paying for parking) at the metro because there simply is not enough room - many people are now having to stand in the aisle of the tiny shuttle, creating a dangerous situation for everyone. To make matters worse, the old shuttle continues to sit in our parking lot, unused - however, they have told us point blank that the shuttle they are now using is that one they will continue to use and this will not be changing. NUMEROUS people have complained about this issue, numerous times and their reaction is to say "I'm sorry you feel that way, but this won't be changing." They also fired most of the staff, all of whom worked here for several years and all of whom the residents were very satisfied with and liked very much. We also now have to call out for maintenance, whereas previously most if not all of the maintenance workers lived in the building and one of them was ALWAYS on-call. I had never waited more than 2 hours for maintanance before and just recently friends of mine had to wait a week. It is very clearly that this previously well-run building has become part of a large corporate machine that cares about only money - Corporate offices have not returned ANY resident phone calls. If you're looking in this area, many other nearby buildings are cheaper - go there.
